Universal Synod – Current

Adsumus, Sancte Spiritus

We stand before You, Holy Spirit,

as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us,

make Yourself at home in our hearts;

Teach us the way we must go

and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful;

do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path

nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity

so that we may journey together to eternal life

and not stray from the way of truth

and what is right.

All this we ask of You,

who are at work in every place and time,

in the communion of the Father and the Son,

forever and ever.

Amen.

Update as of 30 June 2023

The working document for the meeting of the bishops in Rome in October 2023 has now been published. It uses the Latin name for such documents: the Instrumentum Laboris (“IL”).

Infographics on – IL – Conversation in the Spirit – Organisation of Oct Assembly – Jun 2023

Of course, the IL should be read and interpreted in the light of all the previous documents published in the Synodal Pathway. See the links below to the key documents and to the websites where more documents and other details can be found.

Please see immediately below the list of contents for the IL which gives a reasonable idea of the topics for discussion at the Synod Assembly meeting in October 2023 in Rome.
