The parish of Blanchardstown, an old parish once covering a large rural area, has changed dramatically since its origins, especially in recent years (see History). It is now a bustling vibrant cosmopolitan parish whose boundaries encompass both rural and suburban areas – from the cottages at Cappogue to the apartments and duplexes in Pelletstown, from the Blanchardstown Centre to the village Main Street – and comprises approximately 7,000 homes.

Blanchardstown is a blend of the old and the new, the local and the international, the modern and the traditional.  St. Brigid’s, the parish church, is located just off Main Street in the heart of the village.

The Parish Team in collaboration with the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Finance Committee, and the various Voluntary Groups and Lay Ministers do this in a spirit of service and work together to build up a dynamic Christian Community. They do it in a practical way by:

  • Celebrating the Eucharist:  In addition to the regular Sunday Masses, there are daily Masses and special Masses – e.g., for our international communities and for the sick and the bereaved
  • Providing access to and helping parishioners prepare for the Sacraments – Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, etc.
  • Supporting the bereaved
  • Providing opportunities for prayer and spiritual growth
  • Visiting the sick or housebound
  • Supporting the vulnerable and those less well-off in our community
  • Working with young people to support their faith formation
